Buddhist View International Mission Statement

Given the burgeoning interest in Buddhism throughout western cultures
and within the United States particularly, it is the purpose of Buddhist
View International to provide a comprehensive education in Tibetan Buddhism,
while promoting awareness of all Buddhist traditions and to preserve Tibetan
culture via spiritual, artistic and scholastic instruction.

Chicago’s combination of rich cultural diversity with its history of social progress
provides an ideal setting in which intercultural and interpersonal exchange can flourish.
Hence, we at Buddhist View International are proud to enmesh ourselves in this history
by promoting the humanitarian motto, “Others before self.”

In order to realize this goal, Buddhist View International conducts the following activities
on behalf of the community at large, practicing Buddhists, and those interested in Tibetan culture:

I.             Tibetan language classes by highly qualified and dedicated teachers.
II.            Instruction in traditional Tibetan art forms, such as Thanka painting
(Buddhist iconography), butter sculpture and sand mandala.
III.           Meditation and Yoga practice guided by a knowledgeable and
               experienced practitioner.
IV.          Dharma teachings provided by visiting Lamas.
V.            Cultural events and celebrations
VI.          Physical therapy.
 VII         Tibetan Traditional Treatments

At the moment, Buddhist View International is in its fledgling phase,
thus, our facilities and accommodations are limited.  However, with the
assistance of our supporters, we anticipate purchasing a location in the near
future where we can better serve our participants and those in need.
Future Projects:

In view of the urgent need for a Mahayana Center in the Midwest,
Buddhist View International envisions the following projects:

I              Construction of a traditional, Tibetan Mahayana Buddhist Temple in
Chicago where practitioners can congregate and pray.  Although rooted in
the Mahayana tradition, our Temple will be non-sectarian and will accommodate
people of all faiths as Buddhism holds all beings in equal regard.

II.            Establishment of a retreat center with facilities for meditation,
yoga, physical therapy, as well as Tibetan language instruction.

We will foster a serene environment where individuals can find solace and
recuperation from the mundane business of Samsara (the world of ordinary concerns).
