Maitreya Project Heart Shrine

Relic Tour

Karma Thegsum Chöling and the Maitreya Project Heart
Shrine Relic Tour, it is my pleasure to invite you to a Special Reception and
Blessing to initiate the opening of the Relic Tour in Chicago.
                                OPENING RECEPTION & BLESSING
                WHO:    Chicago-area Dharma leaders

               WHAT:  Special Reception & Blessing

               WHEN:  Friday, August 13, 2004 ~ 6:00-8:00 pm

WHERE:  Karma Thegsum Chöling in Cicero
2100 S. Central Ave. (1 blk north of Cermak in Cicero)
Free parking is available ½-block south of KTC

This extraordinary collection includes relics of the historical Buddha
and his closest disciples— Maudgalyayana,  Sariputra, and Ananda—as well as
relics of many other Buddhist masters from the Chinese, Indian, and
Tibetan traditions.  More information on the tour is available at
http://www.maitreyaproject.org/.

When the tour concludes in 2006, the relics will be enshrined permanently in
the 500-foot (152 meter) bronze Maitreya Buddha statue currently being
built in Northern India.  The statue will benefit the entire world by
reminding people of every nation of the need for loving-kindness and peace—inner
peace as well as peace within the family, community, and world.  The Maitreya
Project also will benefit the people of India through its economic
benefits and education and healthcare programs.  The Maitreya Project is
directed by Lama Zopa Rinpoche, who has been invited to attend Friday evening’s
reception, and we are eagerly awaiting his reply.

The Maitreya Project Heart Shrine Relic Tour will be presented in three
Chicago venues:
Sat & Sun., August 14-15 ~ Karma Thegsum Chöling Dharma Center, 2100 S.
Central, Cicero - 10 am - 5 pm
