ABOUT KEUTSANG RINPOCHE Jampel Yeshe, the present Keutsang Rinpoche, was recognized in 1946 when he was barely two years old. In Memoirs of Keutsang Lama, His Holiness the Dalai Lama states, "I personally have a special relation with Keutsang Rinpoche. It was his predecessor who headed the search party that discovered and identified me as the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet. He was also a debating assistant to the 13th Dalai Lama, and was my teacher as well - a very kind one."
After China took complete control of Tibet in 1959, Keutsang Rinpoche was branded as class enemy, arrested and imprisoned for twenty years. His retreat center near Lhasa was completely destroyed.
