KUNSANG CHOLING NUNNERY
It is a matter of pleasure to introduce a Nunnery from Kathmandu to the world. We wish to draw your attention to help the Kunsang Choling Nunnery in educating young Nuns in Dharma and general knowledge. We hope that through your help the institution will be able to make this vision feasible.
Founder & Director Lama Gondop Kunsang Choling
Our vision is as follows:
1. To enroll young female children to our education centre. These girls come from remote poverty-stricken families from Hill area of Nepal and Tibet border.
2. To provide them with clothes, living accommodation, food and medical care as well as with all other basic requirements of daily activities.
3. To train them in Dharma. (= Religion)
4.To educate them in general subjects like language, math, geography and science etc and enable them to merge with the main stream of modern life, and become useful, independent, valuable human beings.
5. To develop their creativity in every aspect of life.
6.Our main job is to make the women capable of following & spreading the Dharma and to profess the idea of how urgent is to edify the women from the downtrodden areas of world.
The institution hopes not only to uplift the women, but also to be an example of peaceful and harmonious living in Dharma’s community.
History of Nunnery:
Now we would like to introduce you to the brief history of their Nunnery. We started the institution in 1989 with 5 Nuns on our roll. Today we have 15 Nuns. They expect many more girls to come & join them in the near future from the remote area of Nepal & Tibet border particularly Mukhampas.
In these areas there are no means available to educate children owing to severe & harsh environment and inaccessibility.
The Nunnery will perform thanks giving prayer for the donors being well and prosperous beings.
