FURTHER COMMENTS:

His Eminence Chogye Trichen Rinpoche, is among the few living masters who embodies the wisdom, spirit and activities of the holy Dharma which has been passed down since the time of Shakyamuni Buddha.  His Eminence Chogye Trichen Rinpoche has accomplished the Dharma path himself and has placed many others on the path.  He is also the Teacher to H.H. Dalai Lama and H.H. Sakya Trizin (head of Sakya Trizin). The main Monastery “Maitreya Buddha Vihara” is located near Boudhanath Stupa.

His Eminence Chogye Trichen Rinpoche resides here with most of his monks. The office of the Monasteries Management Committee is also based here. The opening hours of this office are 8.am to 10.am and 2.pm to 4.pm each day.

The monastery located at Lumbini is situated east of Buddha’s Birthsite. His Eminence Chogye Trichen Rinpoche is the Head and founder of both Monasteries, established this garden in remembrance, recognition and reverence of lord Buddha at His Birthplace. The Birthplace of Lord Buddha is also historically one of the oldest significant garden sites in the world.  Hence His eminence Chogye Trichen Rinpoche realized the need to resurrect a garden at this Holy place. Contribution towards the support of this garden is made by Mr. John Deweese; a Disciple of His Eminence Chogye Trichen Rinpoche.

The offering of this garden to Lord Buddha is available for all sentient beings to enjoy.  The beauty of this garden can be enjoyed whilst circumambulating the Monastery.

His Eminence Chogye Trichen Rinpoche also has two other monasteries/ Retreat dwellings.  One is located near Shivapuri in the Kathmandu valley and named “ Bakdara ” Monastery is a holy site of the first Buddha and is for sacred retreats only. The other Monastery is located in Mustang at Logairagar and situated at the oldest Monastery established by Guru Rinpoche in Mustang, and is the retreat site for His Eminence Chogye Trichen Rinpoche.
