Lama Kunga Gyaltsen. |
This monastery was built over 300 years ago by the earlier Sakya Khon Lineage holders. It is actually situated at Tomkot village. This monastery has served to preserve the specific lineage and promote the Buddhist practices throughout the ages. In pursuit of the rich traditional heritage of the Sakya Khon lineage, the following are the descendent order of the actual blood lineage predecessors: -
Khon Semkar Kunga Gyaltsen, Lama Penpa, Lama Pema, Gangri Dungyue Tenzin, Tenzin Trulnang Rangdol, Lama Ngoedup, Lama Paljor, Lama Jinpa, Jamyang Ngoedup, Lama Jampal and Kunga Gyaltsen.
The monastery has preserved the precious old statues of the 3 bodies of Buddha i.e. Truth body, complete enjoyment body and emotion body. They have also got mainly old Buddhist texts, statues of many other deities and statues containing consecrated with the relics of the previous high lamas holding the blood hierarch of the Sakya Khon family lineage.
Some of the significant practices of the monastery are: -
16 days retreat in the first Tibetan month.
Special prayer-sessions are held in the 3rd Tibetan month.
Khasarpana goddess pujas are held in every fifth Tibetan month.
The sixteen arhat’s pujas are held in every 6th Tibetan month.
Vajra recitation is done in the 9th Tibetan month.
Special pujas for the past lineage holders are held in every 10th Tibetan month.
Vajra Killa pujas are held for 10 days in the 10th Tibetan month.
Special rituals for gods & spirits etc are held for 6 days in the 12th Tibetan month.
For every prayer sessions, there are usually more than one hundred monks attending the puja.
The present head of the monastery is Ven. Ngawang Lodoe. He is at present studying at Sakya Colloge at Puruwala in India. He was taken over this Responsibility after the sad demise of his father Khon Kunga Gyaltsen. Apart from the said monastery Dungkar Choezom his father Khon Kunga Gyaltsen had built another Monastery at Setianchal, District Doti, Nepal.
