Yarlung River Scenic Area, located in the south of the Tibet Shanan Prefecture with an area of 920 square kilometers, is so far the only national key scenic area in Tibet. it’s the cradle of Tibetan nationality. Featured with the snow capped mountains, glaciers, rural sceneries, river valleys, alpine plants as well as the scared mountains, holy lakes, historic attractions and primitive folkways, it has really formed a mysterious and splendid picturesque tableau which combines cultural relics with natural scenic spots.

         Yarlung, with its unique natural conditions and rich cultural heritage, is the brightest pearl glittering from the historical and cultural treasure of Tibet.

 

 

 

 

Yarlung River, covering the whole distance of 80 kilometers gentle flowing, originates from Mt. Yarlarshangpo in Shannan, converges into the mighty Yarlungtsanpu River at Tsedang. Yarlung River valley, with the wide expansion and crisscross footpaths between fields, dedicates itself a fecund flat land full of incomparable miracle and beauty. It is the land that once had given birth to a great nationality and had written down its ancient civilization on the world roof. Today, with great effort, wisdom and hope, the land is decorating the magnificence of its future.
