SAO PAULO, April 27 His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived yesterday at Sao Paulo's Guarulhos International Airport for his second visit to Brazil; the first was seven years ago.
His Holiness was received at the airport by Brazilian Foreign Ministry's representative, as well as by former Justice Minister Dr. Jose Gregori, Indian Consul General Yogeshwar Varma, and representatives of the local host.
At 3:00 p.m., over 200 media persons converged on Grant Hyatt Hotel, where His Holiness is staying, for a press meet.
Incidentally, the media coverage of His Holiness and Tibet was phenomenal even before he set foot in the country.
Local televisions, radios, newspapers and newsmagazines have all given extensive coverage to the subject.
Epoca Revista, the most influential and largest circulating newsmagazines in Brazil, made it their cover story.
Today, His Holiness will visit Zu Lai Temple, the biggest Chinese Mahayana center in Latin America.
He will give teaching on "The Eight Verses of Training the Mind" to 2,400 Buddhists of Chinese, Zen, Korean, Vietnamese, Tibetan, and Theravada traditions.
He will be received at Zu Lai by Mayor Joaquim H. Pedroso Neto of Cotia, the region where the temple is locatedâin the outskirts of Sao Paulo.
Leaders of the Brazilian Chinese community will also be there to receive him.
Later, His Holiness will have private meetings with the key members of Zu Lai Temple and also with some one hundred leaders of the Chinese community in Brazil.
