Situated at Chongkhogye County - “the confluence of three holy rivers and sacred mountains”, Chongkhogye monastery stands on the only pilgrimage pass to the Holy Lake. This monastery was built by the 2nd Dalai Ghendhun Gyatso in 1509 and then expended to a colossal construction of 4000 square miters during the time of 5th Dalai. Although only the ruins and some Buddhist holy relics are left today, visitors could still feel the shocking sense from the solemn, seriousness around the place and see the magnificence of its past time.
