02/28/07 Parliamentary Internship Program ONLY AVAILABLE FOR YOUNG TIBETANS WHO ARE CANADIAN CITIZEN

FYI The Parliamentary Friends of Tibet (Canada) is organizing a Parliamentary Internship Program for Tibetan youths brought up in the United States and Canada this summer. Following is the details on the internship provided by the PFT-Canada. Since this is a great opportunity for the Tibetan Youngsters, we would like to encourage many Tibetan youngsters to apply for the internship. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Parliamentary Internship Program The Parliamentary Friends of Tibet (PFT) Parliamentary Internship Program is an initiative of the PFT launched to provide young men and women of Tibetan background with exposure to the Canadian political process and would serve as an opportunity to participate in and learn about Canada and its governance. Objective To coordinate an internship placement for a Canadian student of Tibetan origin with a Member of the House or Senate in Ottawa. Duration May 7th-June 15th, 2007 Selection Process PFT will interview candidates and make recommendations to participating members of Parliament. Interested Members will receive a copy of the candidates’ CV for final selection. Program Orientation Interns will be assigned preparatory readings before their arrival in Ottawa. Seminars During the program, several seminars and meetings will be organized to enhance the intern’s knowledge of Canadian politics and government structure. Furthermore, weekly meetings will be held to reflect on and observe each others’ experiences. Post-Program Responsibilities Following the program, interns are required to write a report for presentation to the PFT. Compensation TBC Eligibility Criteria • Of Tibetan origin currently enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary educational institution • Must be a Canadian Citizen • Excellent academic standing • Excellent communication skills (bilingualism an asset) • Extra curricular activities including community involvement • Letters of recommendation 1.
