07/16/07H H Dalai Lama will give a teaching....NorthAmerica...July of 2008....

  Northamerican Tenshug Announcement

The 9th Conference of the Tibetan Associations of North America held in August 2006 in New York unanimously resolved to make a supplication to offer long life prayer, ten-shug, to His Holiness the Dalai Lama.  His Holiness has very kindly accepted the associations' request.

A further meeting was held in Minnesota in October of 2006, where an eight-member working committee was elected.

After consultation with the Office of Tibet and the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, it was confirmed that the teaching and tenshug of the Tibetan associations would be co- sponsored by the Deer Park Buddhist Center of Geshe Lhundup Sopa and that it would take place in Madison, Wisconsin, where His Holiness is scheduled to visit in July of 2008.

From July 20 to 23, 2008, His Holiness will give a teaching on Shantideva’s Guide to a Bodhisattva’s Way of Life and Kamalashila’s Middle Stages of Meditation in Madison, Wisconsin.  This will be followed by tenshug offering on July 24. Kalon Tripa Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche had kindly agreed to do the men-tel ja-shed, the detail explanation of mandala offering.

As this is going to be the first tenshug offered to His Holiness the Dalai Lama on behalf of all the Tibetans in the North America, it is anticipated that a large number of Tibetans residing in the United States and Canada will avail this rare opportunity to participate in this historic event.

Apart from getting his blessing, this will provide us a rare and an appropriate opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to His Holiness for his guidance at this critical time.
