Namco means "heavenly lake" in Tibetan language and it is not only the holy land for belivers, but the dreamland for travellers.

Located at the foot of the Nyainqentanglha Mountain at an elevation of 4,718 meters, Namco is between the Damxung County and Bangoin County with a total area of 1,940 square kilometers.

As a worship destination of Tibetan Buddhism, Namco attracts many believers and tourists. After the operation of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, Namco has received many more foreign tourists.
