09/25/07 US Congress has already passed the resolution to permit the Gold Medal celebration event

As you are all aware by now, the US Congress has already passed the resolution to permit the Gold Medal celebration event to be held at Capitol Hill (West Wing Lawn) in Washington DC. Tibetans all over North America and Canada will converge in Washington DC to celebrate this event.

Further to our earlier circular to the associations, we once again inform you that the official ceremony for the Gold Medal will start at 1:00 p.m. on October 17th at Capitol Hill. It will most likely last for two hours. The public will have an opportunity to view the entire official ceremony on short-circuit TV projected on giant screens at the Capitol Hill West Wing Lawn. The public ceremony will be organized on the same day from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm and 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the West Wing Lawn. In between, cultural performances by Tibetan Associations throughout North America will be presented to mark this historical event.

From 3:00 pm to 4:00pm His Holiness will attend the public ceremony and address the gathering after the conclusion of the official ceremony. His Holiness will be escorted by the Speaker of the House and other dignitaries to the special stage set on the West Wing Lawn.

Other information related to this event will be circulated through local Tibetan Associations and other communities. You all are requested to arrange your own accommodations if you decide to stay overnight to celebrate this event.
