Sakya Dechen Ling is the East Bay meditation and retreat center founded by Jetsun Kusho Chime Luding, in 1987. The name Sakya Dechen Ling means "blissful Sakya place" (or "Sakya Place of Great Joy"). The emphasis of the Center is on the practice of women in Tibetan Buddhism, but of course, all Buddhist practitioners and spiritual seekers are welcome.

Vikramasila Foundation is a non-profit organization for religious, educational, and cultural purposes. Under the guidance of His Holiness the Sakya Trizin, the head of the Sakya order of Tibetan Buddhism, and with the blessings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the foundation was established in 1989 in New York City and Fairlawn, New Jersey, by the Venerable Lama Pema Wangdak. Based on the teachings of the Sakya school, the foundation seeks to provide the wisdom of the East, here in the West, through Tibetan Buddhist studies and meditative practices, education centers, meetings and conventions, special religious and social services, and publications.

The Portland Sakya Center is a center for the practice of Vajrayana (Tibetan) and Mahayana Buddhism, meets on Monday night at 7 PM, except on major legal holidays, at the Portland Dharma Center, 25th & S.E. Madison (one block north of Hawthorne). The current director and resident teacher for the Center is Ani Gilda Paldršn Taylor, an ordained Tibetan Buddhist nun, appointed to the position in 1991 by His Holiness Sakya Trizin.
