| Tarthang Tulku Rinpoche came to America in 1968. Inspired by the vision of his own teachers for preserving and transmitting the teachings, Rinpoche founded Dharma Publishing in Berkeley, California, in 1971. He writes, "America is a young country, rich in energy and resources and quick to develop ideas perceived as useful. It could well benefit from the mature wisdom of older Buddhist cultures, refined through centuries of research on mind and consciousness. Response from readers in many lands confirms that this may be happening. The Buddha's teachings are universally helpful, capable of easing the uncertainties of our rapidly changing workplace and infusing joy and meaning into all we do. Whatever benefits flow forth from our work now or in the future, we dedicate to the welfare and happiness of all sentient beings." |
